FilmAid Helps Refugees Prepare to Imagine, after living for years in the limbo of a refugee camp, you are told that you can return to the place that was once your home. The day you longed for approaches, but your excitement is tempered with trepidation. This year, thousands of refugees in East African camps will return to Burundi and Sudan, places they previously fled in terror. In both the Kibondo district of Tanzania and Kakuma camp in Kenya, FilmAid is contributing to a safer repatriation by providing returnees with essential information. Read

A Room of Their Own Judith Ntundguka has spent the past 14 years of her life in the Mtendeli refugee camp in Tanzania. At just 23 years old, she has experienced more than her share of violence and sadness, but she carries on, teaching children in the camp school and taking care of her older brother – her only remaining family. Judith to used find escape and entertainment at FilmAid’s evening screenings, but stopped going out of fear for her safety.
